Ana Margarita Salinas was born on September 22, 1976, in Iquitos, Peru. She lived there until 1983, when she moved with her family to Houston, Texas. The daughter of Nick Salinas and Teresa Pacheco, she was the younger of two children. Ana graduated from Cy-Falls High School before enlisting in the United States Navy, where she served for nine years, attaining the rank of SK3. She earned the MCU award, the National Defense Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal before receiving an honorable discharge in 2004.
After returning to Houston, Ana earned her Medical Assistant certificate and built a life centered on her children. She was a passionate, loving, independent, strong, and determined woman whose greatest joys were the births of her daughter, Francesca Salinas, and her son, Marcus Salinas. In her free time she enjoyed drawing and writing poems. She loved Country, Hip-hop, R&B, and Salsa music, and held a special place in her heart for the song “Vivir Mi Vida” by Marc Anthony.
Ana was preceded in death by her mother, Teresa Pacheco. She is survived by her loving daughter Francesca Salinas, her beloved son Marcus Salinas, and her brother Franz De Aguilar.
