June 24, 1968— March 13, 2026
Niagara, WI
Amy Lu Zipp, 57, of Niagara, Wisconsin, passed away on March 13, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 24, 1968, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, Amy was the daughter of the late Patrick and Kathleen (Gordon) Recla. A 1986 graduate of Niagara High School, she earned her first bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1991 and her second from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh after moving to Fond du Lac. She dedicated her career to working as a Medical Technologist in medical laboratories across Ottumwa, Iowa, and several Wisconsin communities including Fond du Lac, Waupun, West Bend, and Oshkosh.
Amy married her high school sweetheart, John Zipp, on May 2, 1992, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Niagara. Together they raised four children: son Matthew Otto Zipp, and daughters Madison, Miranda, and Maike. After retiring in October 2024, she and John returned to Niagara to be near family and the community she cherished.
Amy was a devoted mother who spent countless hours supporting her children from the sidelines or coaching at volleyball, hockey, soccer, track, golf, and softball games throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest. She found joy in gardening, tending bonfires, listening to AC/DC, snowshoeing, downhill skiing, walking her dogs, and simply being outdoors. She loved spending time with family and friends, being a proud “fur grandma” to her daughters’ pets, and always had a project underway. Evenings often ended with her favorite Captain and Coke with a slice of lime.
She was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Otto Zipp, and her parents, Patrick and Kathleen Recla. Amy is survived by her husband, John Zipp; daughters Madison Zipp (Davis Rollin), Miranda Zipp (Ocean Sotelo), and Maike Zipp (Jay Przekurat); brothers Pat Recla (Luann) and Danny Recla (Sandy); sisters Debbie Wodenka (Randy), Lori Aderman (Dan), Julie Butler (Bob), and Betsy St. Arnold (Bruce); her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Larry and Mary Zipp; sisters-in-law Pam Zipp, Jill Avoles (Doug), and Leanne Heckman (Rick); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
