Nanticoke, PA
Amelia "Millie" O. Howells, 87, of Nanticoke, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026, at Birchwood Rehabilitation Center. She died peacefully and without incident. For 72 years, Millie was a dedicated Witness of Jehovah and found immense joy in her preaching and teaching work as a devout member in all the congregations she was a part of. Born in Jersey City, N.J., on Dec. 11, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Christina Orrino. She was a graduate of Anaconda (Montana) High School, Class of 1956. Millie worked at Swartz's Department Store in Anaconda as a window dresser, as well as in bookkeeping and many other areas of the store. She married J. Roger Howells on Dec. 26, 1959, and worked as a cashier until she became pregnant with their eldest daughter, Lisa. Six years later, they welcomed another daughter, who they named Juliet, and two years later, a son named Benjamin. While building their family, Roger and Millie started their own business, Colonial Appliance, in Connecticut and Montana. From 1969 to 1989, Millie was the administrator and CFO of their family business. Millie and Roger then moved to the Howells family home in Nanticoke. Millie was dedicated to loving and supporting her family, friends, neighbors, and her beloved congregation. She enthusiastically shared her love of Jehovah by going from door to door and telephone witnessing to her community, preaching His word and that of His Son, Jesus Christ. She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Roger Howells, as well as many family members. Millie will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her, especially her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is survived by Lisa (Howells) Zorich; Michael (Skylar) Zorich; Madelyn Zorich; Juliet Howells; Benjamin (Annette) Howells; Jonathan Howells; Jacklyn (Trevor) Howells; Chris Hoover; James Orrino; Pat Orrino; Frances (Orrino) Campochiaro; Paul Orrino; Peter Orrino; Allen Howells; Leslie Howells; Sarah Howells; Esther Howells; Karen Porter; David Howells; Scott Howells; Lori Lods; and Edward Cummings.
