Grayling, MI

Amber Ione Meech, age 95, of Grayling, Michigan, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on March 12, 2026, at Munson Healthcare-Grayling Hospital.

Born on November 6, 1930, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Henry and Cora (Fischer) Meech, Amber moved to Grayling in 1948. She graduated from Grayling High School in 1949 and went on to build a long and varied career, working for many years at Hidden Valley Ski Club, followed by 25 years at the Keyport Clinic with Dr. Blaha and Dr. Henig, before concluding her working life at Shoppenagons.

Her greatest joy was sharing in the lives of her grandsons, Zachary, Spencer, Griffin, and Wesley. She was their biggest fan and remained an integral part of their daily lives. An avid sports enthusiast, Amber loyally followed the University of Michigan, the Pistons, the Tigers, and the Grayling Vikings. She rarely missed a televised game and faithfully listened to every radio broadcast of the Grayling Vikings, keeping detailed stats and recording scores each quarter.

She is survived by her daughter Cory (Meech) Dean and son-in-law Bill Dean; grandsons Zachary, Spencer, Griffin, and Wesley; great-grandchildren Ari, Nash, Cruz, and Sydney; and nieces Julia (Carlson) Powers, Christine (Carlson) Olson, along with many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Cora Meech; her sisters, Merle and Burnice; her niece Cindi; her nephew Richard; and her significant friend Bill Johns.
