Camden, NJ
Alyssa Necla Wiggins, born on August 3, 1992, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, passed away on March 4, 2026. Known for her kind heart, joyful spirit, and deep love for her family, Alyssa brought warmth and light to everyone around her.
From an early age, her natural athletic talent stood out. She excelled in basketball and track at Kingsway High School, where she achieved the milestone of scoring 1,000 points. She continued her education and athletic pursuits at Widener University, earning her bachelor’s degree. Even after her playing days ended, her passion for sports remained strong. She was a constant, enthusiastic presence on the sidelines, proudly cheering for her daughter, nieces, and cousins in their games, recitals, and activities.
Above all, Alyssa’s greatest joy was her role as mother to her daughter, Layla. Being Layla’s mom was the part of life she treasured most. Her smile was brightest when they were together, and she spoke of Layla’s accomplishments in school and extracurricular activities with immense pride and love.
Alyssa is survived by her beloved daughter, Layla M. McLeod; her sisters, Kyrene A. Wiggins (Djamal Kirby) and Alexis V. Wiggins; her nieces, Amarah Y. Kirby and Arya L. Kirby; her aunts, Audrey Ames, Vallere Long-Liles (Reginald Liles), Renee Lisby, and Verda Long; her uncles, John Ames and Rick Lisby; her grandmother, Victoria Lisby; her maternal figure, Yasmeen McLeod; and many other cherished relatives and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vonzetta M. Long, and her father, Tyrone L. Wiggins.
