Alysia Gail Bartholomew

Alysia Gail Bartholomew, 56, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Wake County on August 24, 1969, to Sandra V. Hollowell and the late Beal Bartholomew, she was deeply devoted to her family, friends, clients, and her faith. For nearly 40 years she worked as a hairstylist in Raleigh, where her clients became an extension of her family. She loved her work, boats, and the beach, though she often said she never took enough vacations. Alysia had a wonderful sense of humor, and her smile and laughter were infectious.

She was especially passionate about continuing her father’s tradition of running the Bartholomew’s hot dog stand at the North Carolina State Fair, where he had worked every October for 60 years. After his passing, she proudly took over the stand last year. Though not a big sports fan, she brought her own humor to family gatherings, frequently calling during UNC basketball games to ask why everyone seemed so irritated, despite the household rule against interruptions.

Alysia was a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving aunt, and a great friend. She was taken from her loved ones far too soon and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her mother, Sandra (H.T.) Hollowell; her siblings, Pamela Bartholomew and Joseph “Bart” (Stephanie) Bartholomew; and her niece and nephew, Isla and Lachlan Bartholomew.
