Alys Oesterle ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Torkelson-Page-Smith Funeral Home of Sparta on Mar. 16, 2026.Alys Ann Oesterle, age 84, of Sparta, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Emplify Health by Gundersen in La Crosse, Wisconsin.She was born in Caledonia, Minnesota, to Henry Oesterle and Nellie (Vraa) Oesterle on October 29, 1941. She was the fifth of eleven children. She grew up in Nodine, MN.At a young age, the family moved to Mt. Prairie, MN, and later to Irish Coulee in Wisconsin. In 1970, they moved to Sparta, WI, where Alys lived with her mother until her mother's passing in 2006. Alys then moved into AFH housing, where she made many friends. Her last AFH family was with George and Elaine Kobernick. She moved to Meadows at Rolling Hills in August 2025 where she enjoyed many activities, with Saturday morning BINGO being her favorite.She was always found wearing a smile and offering a hug to anyone she met.Alys is survived by her brothers, Harold (Lori) Oesterle and Lavern (Bobbie) Oesterle, and her sister, Linda Dow, sisters-in-law Dorothy Oesterle, Sandy Oesterle, and Ginny Oesterle. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.She was preceded in death by her siblings: Lorraine Thillen, Louise Renk, Helen Lund, Alvin Oesterle, Robert Oesterle, Kenneth Oesterle, and Wayne Oesterle; and by her in-laws: Valery Thillen, Norman Renk, Vernon Lund, and Joel Dow.The family would like to thank Emplify by Gundersen Health for the wonderful care given to Alys during her short stay. Many thanks as well to Rolling Hills and to George and Elaine Kobernick for the love and care they provided. She loved you all.Services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Sparta. Pastor Priscilla Hemmersbach will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sparta. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.The Torkelson Funeral Home of Sparta is assisting the family with arrangements.
