Alvin (Al) Walter Edward Laverenz

Jackson, WI

Alvin (Al) Walter Edward Laverenz of Jackson passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026 at the age of 99. Born on May 31, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Louis and Lillie (Maas) Laverenz, Al was baptized at St. Marcus Ev. Lutheran Church and grew up with deep roots in the Lutheran faith. After attending Zion Ev. Lutheran School and public school in Germantown, his family settled in Jackson in 1937, where he became a lifelong member of David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Church.

In 1945, Al was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during World War II before receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. A proud member of the American Legion Post #288, he later married Ruth Rusch on August 23, 1947 at David’s Star. Their 72-year marriage was blessed with three children. Al was a dedicated servant in his church, serving as an Elder and Treasurer for six years, on the finance committee for fourteen years, as an usher, and on the recording committee, faithfully delivering taped services to shut-ins.

Before and after his military service, Al worked at the canning factory, delivered fuel oil for Filter Oil, co-owned a garage in Jackson, and spent many years at Middle West Manufacturing until his retirement. In his later years, he continued serving his community by cutting grass for the Town of Jackson. He was a man of quiet strength, deep faith, and steady devotion to his family and church.

Al is survived by his children, Donna (Chuck) Kison, Gary (Gail) Laverenz, and Cindy Ehlke; grandchildren, Amy (Todd) Schrap, Andy (Corrin) Ehlke, Jessica (Benjamin) Washburn, and Ryan (Katie) Laverenz; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth, grandson Kevin Kison, son-in-law Richard Ehlke, his sister Delores Oppermann, and his parents.
