Alvin “Junior” Gravley

September 24, 1940 March 6, 2026

Cartersville, GA

Alvin “Junior” Gravley passed away peacefully at his home on March 6, 2026, with his loving wife by his side. He was 85 years old.

Junior will be remembered above all for his deep love of family. For 36 years he shared his life with his wife Debbie, treasuring every memory they created together. His children and grandchildren brought him profound joy, and he took great pride in each of them.

A gifted musician, Junior was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. He served as staff drummer for Jerry Lee Lewis, Brenda Lee, and Ray Stevens, and was once a guest on The Ed Sullivan Show, a story he loved to share. He leaves behind a rich legacy of hundreds of songs that will continue to be enjoyed for years to come.

Most importantly, Junior was known for his devoted walk with the Lord. In 1996 he gave his life to Christ and dedicated his musical gifts to sharing stories, songs, and sermons through jail ministry. Every Sunday he could be found at Creekside Fellowship Church, singing and worshiping with his family beside him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bessie Patterson Gravley and Al Gravley, and all ten of his siblings.

Junior is survived by his wife Debbie Gravley; his children Debbie Gravley, Cyndi Cochran (Tony), Corky Gravley (Heather), Mark Gravley (Vanessa), Brandi Howard (Shane), and Michael Richmond (Loretta); his seven grandchildren Tyler Bracewell, Grant Howard, Reese Howard, Laura Grace Gravley, Hudson Gravley, Joshua Hux, Michael Richmond, and Stevie Richmond; and his beloved sister-in-law Susan Reese.
