Alvin Hugh Sanford

Alvin Hugh Sanford, known to all as Al, passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2026, at the age of 83 in Minford, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 17, 1942, in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clarence and Lora (Bates) Sanford.

A professional bowler, Al competed on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour, sharing those travels with his family as they explored national parks together. In his later years, he and his wife continued their shared passion for gold prospecting, spending winters in California and Arizona.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia “Pat” (Czubernat) Sanford; their children, Susie (Dan) Tyler, Lisa (Jay) Wallace, Christine (Lee) Powell, Elizabeth (Scott) Schaar, Amanda (Nick) Kelsch, Eric (Maggie) Sanford, and Douglas (Denise) Sanford; 15 grandchildren, Tessa, Kirby, Mason, Cecelia, Bethany, Alex, Jenna, Avery, Claudia, Jessa, Owen, Lily, Gallagher, Addis, and Brandon; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother and one sister. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.

The family held a private celebration of life.
