Alma Lancaster, a cherished member of the Lizella, Georgia community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on August 26, 1940, in Macon, Georgia, Alma lived a full and vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and resilience.
She worked as a dedicated driver for Groome Transportation, where her commitment and enthusiasm earned the respect of her colleagues and passengers. Alma’s generous spirit and readiness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
A beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Alma is survived by her daughter, Mary Soles, and grandson, Dalton Soles. She also leaves behind her nephews, Tim Thompson, Nelson Davis, and Robert Davis, and her nieces, Cathy Sauls, Debbie Schell, Carolyn Logan, and Mary Meeks. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hennie Lou Peacock, her sister, Francis Audrey Holley, and her brother, James Newton Thompson.
Alma found simple joys in solving crossword puzzles and listening to country music. Known for her feisty and tough spirit, she was an inspiration to many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends.
