Alma Gordon ObituaryPublished by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2026.Alma Faye (Brown) Gordon Alma Faye Gordon (90) of Marlin, TX passed away on March 2, 2026, at Hospice Austin's Christopher House. Alma was born May 14, 1935 to Claudia and Willie Brown in Berwyn, Oklahoma. Her family moved to Cleburne, TX in 1945 where she attended Friendship School and Friendship Baptist Church. At the age of 12, Jesus became her Savior and Lord. She began then to ask Him for guidance in her life and He was faithful to provide in every way. She and Clement Gordon became 5th grade sweethearts. They married on June 21, 1952 after she graduated from Cleburne High school. They moved to Waco for Clement to attend Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth. After his graduations and three children, Alma, at 32 years of age attended McLennan Community College in Waco, then graduated cum laude from Baylor in 1971. She taught 5th grade in Marlin for 10 years, followed by 16 years of employment at the VA Medical Center. She was very involved in all the churches that Clement served, from teaching, singing, clerical duties, treasurer, and chairman of many pastor search committees to official positions serving the Associational WMU, FIRM Baptist Area Executive Board, Board of Directors at Latham Springs and on the Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas.Alma and Clement were most recently members of Lakeview Primera Iglesia Bautista Church. They were previous members of the Lions Club and together delivered meals for Meals on Wheels in Marlin. She had also been a member of the Fall Community Hospital & Clinic Auxiliary.Growing up Alma learned to sew from her mother and grandmother. She made clothes for her children and then grandchildren. When she learned about Dress a Girl Around the World in 2022, she immediately started pulling out patterns and material to begin sewing little girl dresses, another way to serve the Lord. One of the almost 200 dresses that Alma sewed and donated appeared in the program's newsletter; it was received by a girl in Sierra Leone. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 71 years and siblings: Betty Dunson, Mary Ellen Montanez and Diane Smelley. Alma was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind children: Joey Gordon (wife Carla) of Llano, Brenda Wyatt (husband Joe Ben) of Manchaca, Jerry Gordon (wife Kay Lynn) of Zephyr, grandchildren: Carol Jo Schultz (Scott), Brandon Wyatt (Holly), Dale Gordon, Jenifer Cameron (Stacy), Lucchese Hamilton (Lawson), Cheyenne Skipton (Andrew) and Sierra Wauer (Jeremy) and great-grandchildren: Elisio Wyatt, Samuel Schultz, Oubrie Wyatt, Nathan Schultz, Atticus Cameron and Jack Wauer. She also leaves behind siblings: Charles Kyle, Dorothy Ragland, Gayle Lilly, Linda Livingston York and Don Kyle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
