Allen Mong McCray of Norfork, AR, passed away March 10, 2026, in Springfield, MO at the age of 75. He was born May 29, 1950 in Neodesha, KS to Glen and Maurine Mong McCray. His family moved to Shawnee Mission, KS in 1962 where he graduated high school from Shawnee Mission North in 1968. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. The birth of his daughter, Melissa, came just prior to earning his MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in 1977.

Allen began his career in the investment division of Woodmen Accident and Life Company, spending 24 years with the Lincoln, NE insurance company. Allen married Jodi in 2004 just prior to their move to Virginia. He completed the remainder of his career in Arlington, VA serving as Sr. Vice President of Investment Operations for Navy Mutual Aid Association.

Together, Allen and Jodi retired to their dream life in Arkansas in 2013. Allen was an avid fly fisherman. He spent many hours on the White River catching rainbow trout. For five decades, Allen attended an annual fall fishing trip with friends and family at Rockbridge Trout Ranch in southern Missouri. He also enjoyed many hours on Lake Norfork fishing with his life-long friend, Hall Burkindine.

Allen is survived by his wife, Jodi; daughter, Melissa (Brad) Josephs; step-son, Robert (Lacey) Joseph; step-daughter, Shelley (Jeff) Borchers; grandchildren, Blake and Halle Borchers, Cruz and Lennon Joseph; sister, Molly McCray; nieces Eliza (Clay) Claborn, Caitlin (Jesse Maier) Boerger-McCray; nephews, Charles (Jane Shields) Worrall, Tom (Tim Holland) McCray-Worrall; and, life-long friend Barbara Burkindine.

A Celebration of Life for Allen will be Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, Mountain Home, Arkansas with Randy Bolen officiating.
