Allen Kenneth Johnson

Allen Kenneth Johnson passed away at his home in peace and reverence on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026, with his wife Cindy at his side. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Allen was born on January 9th, 1953, in Salt Lake City, Utah. His mother, Anna Louise McQuarrie, and his father, Kenneth Arthur Johnson, lived in Holladay, Utah, where Allen and his five siblings grew up. Kenneth was a master tease, as well as fixer of all things broken. Allen was very close to his dad, and carried on the great traditions of breaking and fixing anything, and teasing every chance he got!

First and foremost in Allen’s 73 years here on Earth was always the gospel of Jesus Christ, living the principles and doctrine to the very best of his ability. He never faltered when he was exposed to worldly influence, even if no one was watching. He especially loved being a father, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew. His influence for good will never be forgotten.

Another focus of Allen’s life was his music! It permeated his very being, and he especially loved “his Primary kids.” His clarinet, flute, piccolo, alto flute, organ, and piano were essential, and his talents were well-earned and ever present. His great love and admiration for all things classical was apparent in every possible event, including orchestra, ballet, musicals of all sorts, theatre, and Shakespeare—everything that fed his soul.

Allen was extremely patriotic, and always took great pride in his years of Navy service during the late 1970s. He was a protector of freedom and a loyal citizen. Allen is well known to his family, and Scout troops everywhere, for the wonderful adventures of camping, delicious dutch oven meals, hiking, canoeing, potato launchers, respect for and expertise of the night skies and stars—all things challenging, difficult, and completely satisfying. He was an absolute planner of all things present and future, which was perfectly reflected in his lifelong devotion to his professional life as a mechanical engineer and rocket scientist.

Two of Allen’s most beloved hobbies were his motorcycles and competitive shooting. LOTS and LOTS of great road trips, short adventures, and just quiet rides along the mountainsides on his motorcycle “Bonnie.” He was always certain that he was a better shooter than either of his brothers, and he thought that was pretty cool!

Allen is survived by his son, Eric; his two daughters, Serena and Tanya; five grandchildren, Alicia, Rachel, Jason, Evie, and Felicity; two brothers, Wayne and Dean; and three sisters, Loreen, Jeaneen, and Cindy. Many cousins and nieces and nephews will also miss him greatly. He will also be missed by his wife’s six children, and all twenty-five grandchildren, two great-grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.

Both Allen’s mother and father are deceased, and I’m sure they are thrilled to see one another once again.

Allen and Cindy were married and sealed on August 15th, 1998, in the Jordan River Temple, and he loved calling me Cinderella or Cindy Bug (my grandmother’s name for me).

Allen is at peace, and his presence is surely felt by all.

Funeral service held on Saturday, March 14th, 2026; viewing at 9:30 and service at 11:00 at LDS Church, 4881 W Cindy Lane, South Jordan, UT.

Interment at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery & Mortuary, 3115 E Bengal Blvd (7800 S), Cottonwood Heights, UT.
