Allan Doucette ObituaryVisit the E.P. Mahar & Son Funeral Home - Bennington website to view the full obituary.Allan Doucette, 65, a longtime resident of Bennington, VT, passed away February 24, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous 40-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Though his journey with MS was long and often difficult, he faced it with remarkable strength and resilience. Allan never allowed his illness to define him or diminish the man he was at heart.
A truly gifted musician, Allan was a talented guitar player, singer, and harmonica player, and he could play many other instruments as well. Even when MS gradually took away his ability to perform, it never took away his spirit, his passion for music, or the joy he brought to others. Beyond his musical talents, Allan will be remembered most for the love he gave so freely as an amazing father, cherished Poppi, brother, son, uncle, and loyal friend.
Family was everything to Allan. The love and compassion he showed to those closest to him were constant and unwavering. Even during times of great pain, he carried a warm smile and an incredible sense of humor. He had a unique ability to lift others up with kind words, gentle encouragement, and laughter. He rarely complained, even when he had every reason to. Allan left a lasting mark on the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by the love of his life Catherine Doucette; his best friend and only son, Zachary Doucette; and his daughters, Shavonne Doucette, Amber Doucette, and Julia Doucette. He also leaves behind their significant others, Lauren Pronto, Garrett Peterson, and Sean Michaels. Allan was a proud and devoted Poppi to his beloved grandchildren: Maleah, Ashton, Camdyn, Hunter, Benjamin, Rowan, Brayden, Westyn, Alianna, Kali, and Ella.
He is also survived by his sisters, Lawrie, Jeanette and Carole, and his brother, David, his uncle Tom who was more like a brother to him, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Allan was predeceased by his father, Lawrence Doucette; his mother, Donna Doucette-Maus; and his sister, Dawn Wilson.
Allan's legacy is one of strength, love, music, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.Read The Full ObituaryTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
