Alicia Del Carmen Claros

June 22, 1942 March 8, 2026

Covington, LA

Alicia Del Carmen Claros, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, businesswoman, and devoted member of her faith community, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 83. Born on June 22, 1942, in San Salvador, El Salvador, she trained and worked as a laboratory technician specializing in grain and coffee agriculture. She married, lovingly raised four children, and became a small business owner of a grocery and appliance store.

In 1981, amid the civil war in El Salvador, Alicia made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States, eventually settling in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, where she became a naturalized American citizen. She reinvented herself as a skilled hairstylist and proudly owned and operated her own hair salon for many years. After retiring, she devoted her time and heart to her Catholic faith, volunteering in the Sacred Heart Adoration ministry, where her presence and dedication brought comfort to many.

Alicia cherished her family above all, finding joy in church activities, traveling, dancing, and staying active at the gym. Her warmth, resilience, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mario Arturo Oliva Olivares and Julia Sara Oliva Montoya; her son, Jose Antonio (Tony) Claros; and her ex-husband, Jose Antonio Claros.

She is survived by her three children: her son, Mario Samuel Claros, MD, and wife Paulette Claros; son, Juan Carlos Claros; and daughter, Alice Karina Claros Damico and husband Paul Damico; her grandchildren, Andrew Claros, Alicia Corine Claros, and Paulina Sara Claros; and her cherished siblings and their spouses: Guillermo Antonio Oliva and his wife Vilma, Mario Nelson Oliva and his wife Milena, Julio Enrique Oliva and his wife Amanda, Dora Aída Oliva Barake and her life partner Ronald Siegeltuch, and Carlos David Oliva and his wife Margarita. She also leaves behind many caring relatives and friends.
