PAWCATUCK - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alicia A. Smith, 60, of Pawcatuck, CT who peacefully left us on March 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 13, 1966, in Westerly, Rhode Island, Alicia lived a life defined by strength, resiliency, creativity, generosity, & a deep devotion to her family, friends, and the communities she cherished. The epitome of a mama bear through & through.Alicia was a natural homemaker, entrepreneur, & selfless giver who loved bringing people together. Whether opening her home, creating wreaths & gardens, running a wellness-inspired gift boutique, or co-founding By the Way Caf Catering with her sister, she had a gift for creating welcoming spaces filled with warmth & her unforgettable laugh.Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, who filled her cup full with love and happiness.She is survived by her husband, Timothy Smith; her son Kyle Smith & wife Laura Scaglione-Smith and their children Stella & Declan Smith; her daughter Maxine Olson & husband Jordan Olson, Maxine's daughter Giada Alvarado & Jordan's son Jack Olson; former son-in-law remaining a son Juan Alvarado; her sister Marlisa McLaughlin & husband Scotty McLaughlin, & her nieces Aldis Aradottir & Moon Ara.Her love, laughter, & generous spirit will live on through her family & in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her, a light that will never fade.Alicia's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, March 21st from 10:30 am till noon at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic. A service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
