Alice Somer ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Ballard Funeral Home on Mar. 3, 2026.In Loving Memory of Chris SomerWe mourn the passing of Chris Somer, born in 1948, who passed peacefully in the presence of family on March 2, 2026. Chris was the very definition of Wyoming cowgirl tough, overcoming many health battles, including kidney failure, multiple bouts of cancer, scoliosis, a club foot, and other persistent health challenges throughout her lifetime. It never stopped her. She had a deep faith and unwavering strength. She loved Wyoming and never wanted to live anywhere else. She met the love of her life, Frank, in college at the University of Wyoming, and they married in 1970. Together, they raised their twins, Jodi and Frank (Jerry) in the dome house outside of Lovell. They built on the dome as they could afford and constantly changed the construction of it. It remains unique and unfinished-just like their love. Chris also loved being in the Beartooths with Frank, as well as canoeing and fishing with extended family and friends (the Slaughterbeck's & Berrey's) in the back country of Yellowstone every chance they could.Chris was a creative person and always loved a challenge. She leaves a legacy of beautiful quilts, needlepoint, and other crafts. She was the force behind her family raising animals, gardening, and canning… and as anyone who knew her could say-Chris never turned down reading a good book!Chris is preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and Shirley, as well as by her beloved Frank. Her surviving family will carry her memory in their hearts: Frank (Jerry,) Jodi (husband Jay,) grandchildren (Jake & Jae,) brothers Dick and Bill, brother-in-law Don, multiple nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family-all of whom Chris loved very much.We are sure to miss naming everyone, but the family would like to extend their gratitude to the following for the friendship and support given to Chris throughout the years: Donna Mills (her best friend since the 6th grade,) Sheryl Briseño, Eva Wagner, Judy Ferren, Keith & Donna Kohnke, her friends and support system at the Lovell Senior Center, the NBHH visiting nurses, all those who supported her care at North Big Horn Hospital, and the Lovell community. If desired, please send donations to the Lovell Senior Center in lieu of flowers.Cremation is with Ballard Funeral HomeTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
