Alice Ilo Coomer, 92, of Logan, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at her residence. Born on July 28, 1933, in Newark, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Eugene “Gene” VanDyke and Grace Marie Poff Minor. Alice was the widow of the late Fred D. Coomer Sr.

A devoted member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Alice faithfully served for many years teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School to countless children. She found deep joy in sharing her faith and nurturing young hearts. She also took great pleasure in tending her garden and canning its harvest. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family, who remained the center of her life and her greatest source of happiness.

She is survived by her sons, Fred D. “Skip” (Kimberly) Coomer Jr. of Logan and John (Sarah) Coomer of South Riding, Virginia; daughters, Denice Mock of New Plymouth and Barbara (Greg Fuller) Coomer of Logan; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Charles (Janice) VanDyke of Logan; her sister, Wanda Cooperider of Newark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by her granddaughters, Rebecca L. Bookman and Delayna Rae Mock; her brother, Bob VanDyke; and Karen Bartley.
