Jackson, AL
Alice Brown Oliver, a cherished resident of Jackson, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on August 28, 1938, in the Antioch community, she graduated from Jackson High School with the Class of 1956 before attending Huffstetler Business College in Mobile. Alice worked as an Executive Secretary at Durr Drug Company and later at Allied Paper Company, yet it was her roles as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful church member that truly defined her life. A longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, she sang in the choir, participated in the WMU, and taught the Adult V Sunday School Class for nearly 40 years, touching countless lives with her wisdom, laughter, and nurturing spirit.
Alice found great joy in china painting, through which she formed lasting friendships and created beautiful works that reflected her vibrant personality. Her home was a warm sanctuary filled with love for her children and grandchildren, where her kindness and encouragement helped others recognize their potential and feel a deep sense of belonging.
She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Oliver Hutchinson and Lori Alice Oliver; beloved grandchildren, Samuel Oliver Hutchinson, Addyson Grace Oliver, Dr. AshLee Oliver Frey, and Joanna Oliver Walls; precious great-grandchildren, EllaDove Walls, Levi Walls, and Bo Walls; sisters, Georgia Brown McKay and Eloise Brown Stokes; brother, Dr. Jerry E. Brown (Libby); and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed Lee Oliver, Sr.; son, Ed Lee Oliver, Jr.; parents, John Coley and Alliene E. Brown; and ten siblings: brothers Elmore Brown, Tollie Brown, Roy Brown, Henry Brown, and the Rev. Robert L. Brown, and sisters Pauline Brown Claro, Dot Brown Downey, Lucille Brown Boyd, Christine Brown Daugherty, and Marie Brown Zentz.
Alice’s melodic voice, creative spirit, and gentle heart will continue to live on in the stories, laughter, and love of all whose lives she so graciously enriched.
