Alfredo Herrera

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Alfredo Herrera (McAllen, Texas), who passed away on March 7, 2026 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Abundio Herrera and Andrea Herrera; his wife Lupita Herrera; his daughter Michelle Brookshire; and his siblings, Ramona Delgado, Roberto Herrera and Alicia Hernandez.

He is survived by: his former spouses, Dr. Ralph H. Brookshire III and Andres Garza, III; his grandchildren, Jesus Cantu (J. R.), Cassandra Contreras (Cordero Contreras), Alex Cuellar, Nick Cuellar, Seth Garza and Shelby Garza; Ricardo Herrera. He is also survived by his seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Rivera Funeral Home (1901 Pecan Blvd, McAllen, TX 78501). A rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 10th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 at 9:45 AM at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church (2201 Martin Ave, McAllen, TX 78504). A burial will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 at 10:45 AM at the Piedad Cemetery (1801 Wichita Ave, McAllen, TX 78501).
