Alfredo Dumalsen ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Ventura on Mar. 13, 2026.Alfredo "Fred" Chacarang Dumalsen (II) peacefully ascended to heaven on March 12, 2026, at his home in Oxnard, CA, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. In his final moments, he was held by his loving wife, Evelyn, who prayed him into the arms of the Lord.Born on October 25, 1940, in Kadaclan, Philippines, to Maria Luisa and Alfredo Dumalsen (I). He is survived by his sisters Margarita Acmor, Gregoria Paculan, and Letty Lumiuan, and joins his sister, Julita Malaggay, in eternal rest. Fred was a man of profound depth and quiet strength; truly, with him, still waters ran deep.A fearless risk-taker who lived life on his own terms. He mastered multiple languages, received a BA in Accounting and joined the United States Navy at age 26. He served with distinction during the Vietnam War and retired with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He dedicated his life to his family and his Church.Fred was a true fighter who tackled the battles of war and health head-on. Despite facing a heart attack, bacteremia and stroke in 2023, his tenacious spirit and sharp mind refused to yield, challenging every obstacle until the very end.Outside of his professional life, Fred was an avid sportsman and passionate foodie. He was a competitive bowler, volleyball player, enjoyed judo/boxing, and a skilled billiards player. He found peace casting a line at Port Hueneme and Point Mugu beach. Fred was a truly gifted cook whose greatest joy was feeding others. Even when bedridden, his nurturing spirit never wavered-he was always more concerned with making sure everyone else had eaten. His generosity knew no bounds. Driven by his faith, Fred provided Bible studies to county jail inmates and offered counsel to those at their lowest points. He was known for his altruistic generosity to those in need and his mischievous sense of humor; he took great joy in being the family jokester especially when it came to his six grandchildren.Fred's legacy lives on through his wife, Evelyn; his six children, Rosanna Dumalsen, Fredelyn Sandwall (Matthew), Roslyn Dumalsen, Gilda Romero (Anthony), Welfred Dumalsen (Deborah), and Alfredo Dumalsen (III); and his cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Mahala, Jasmine, Ethan, Aidan, and Leila.I love you. Mahal kita. Ay-ayaten ka.Family and friends are invited to visting hours to be held on Friday morning March 20, 2026 from 9:00am until 11:00am at the United Pentacostal Church, 700 E.
