Alfred Rigoberto Ferreyra

January 3, 1950 March 10, 2026

Hope Mills, NC

Alfred Rigoberto "Fred" Ferreyra, 76, of Hope Mills, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in his home with family by his side.

Born January 3, 1950, in Queens, NY, Fred was the son of the late Rigoberto and Luz Ferreyra.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Ferreyra; five children, Rigo Ferreyra, Nicole Ferreyra (Brad), Brandon Neal, Shawn Ferreyra (Jessica), and Heather Ferreyra (Michael); brother, Johnny Ferreyra (Lisa); two nieces, Stephine Ferreyra (Conor) and Samantha Ferreyra (Matthew); 13 grandchildren; and many cousins that he was raised alongside with as brothers and sisters.

To know Fred was to know that he was a diehard New York Yankees fan and loved everything sports related. He joined the United States Army in 1967, honorably serving all over the world, including in the Gulf War. After over 24 years of service, Fred retired as a highly decorated 82nd Airborne 1st Sergeant. During his last couple of years while still enlisted in the Army, Fred also worked on weekends volunteering on F Platoon for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. He later proudly joined the sheriff’s office as a full time deputy right after retiring from the United States Army in 1994. He served in the Sheriff’s Office until 2003, then shortly after joined the Hope Mills Police Department, serving them faithfully before retiring in 2023. Realizing he just could not just stay home, he eventually went back to work part-time for the Hope Mills Fire Department until the end of 2024. After over 55 years of serving his country and his community Fred finally decided it was time to live the fully retired life.

Fred will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend, and outstanding public servant. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Services will be announced at a later date.
