Alfred Herman Carl, 97, passed away March 13, 2026, with his family at his side. A former resident of West Boylston, Mass., he relocated to Drums five years ago. Born in Clinton, Mass., on June 9, 1928, he was the eldest child and only son of Alfred Kurt Carl and Irma (Sontag) Carl. He attended Clinton schools and graduated from Bryant College with a degree in accounting. He married Winifred Mary Sereicikas on June 28, 1950, in St. Casimir's Church in Worcester, Mass. They shared 62 years of a wonderful marriage until Winnie's passing on Sept. 23, 2012. Alfred was employed for many years at the former Hillcrest Dairy as controller/treasurer, then at C.K. Smith Oil (now Peterson Oil) in the same capacity. He operated a private income tax service until age 90. A convert to Catholicism at the time of his marriage to Winnie, he embraced his faith, serving for over 30 years as a Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Good Council Parish along with his wife. Alfred also served for many years on the parish finance committee. Following his retirement, Alfred enjoyed traveling with his wife and family on many cruises, trips to Cape Cod and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. In addition to his wife and parents, Alfred was predeceased by his sisters, Nancy Johnson, Mariam Shaw and Irene Johnson. He is survived by his sons, David Alfred Carl, M.D. and his wife, Deborah Anne Gorski, M.D., of Mountain Top; and Richard Thomas Carl, PhD and his wife, Lou Ann Burgess, of Falmouth, Mass.; grandchildren, Lindsay Bower and her husband, Jacob Bower, of Mountain Top; Timothy Carl of Mountain Top; Jacob Burgess Carl and his fiancé, Nicole Bourgant, of Mashpee, Mass.; and Hannah Burgess Carl of Falmouth, Mass.; great-grandchildren, Ava Carl Parkinson of Falmouth, Mass.; and Elwyn Bower of Mountain Top; and sisters, Betty Moffitt of Southbridge, Mass. and Carolyn Gibbons of Clinton, Mass. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Providence Place Memory Care, Hospice of the Sacred Heart, and especially Lucy Patte for the compassionate care at the end of Alfred's long life. Friends and family may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fay Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston, Mass. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Council Church. Interment will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery.
