He peacefully passed away on January 30, 2026, while under hospice care at Methodist Hospital Richardson in Richardson, TX.Al was the second child born to the late Mr. Aubrey Ricketts and the late Mrs. Sybil Robertson. Tragedy struck early in his life when, on March 30, 1942, at just 10 months old, his father died in a tragic train accident in Clarendon, Jamaica. His mother, only 26 years old at the time, was left to raise Al and his older brother, Kenneth, as a single parent. Her strength, faith, and resilience became a defining foundation in his life.Al spent his formative years in Trout Hall, a vibrant rural community in Clarendon. Though his upbringing was strict and disciplined, it was also filled with meaningful experiences and strong family bonds. He especially cherished growing up alongside his brothers, Glenn and Comrie, whose births followed his by four and seven years respectively. Faith played a central role in his early life. Active participation in worship at Mears Baptist Church every Sunday, along with an average of two additional nights per week was an absolute expectation within the family.Al received his early education at Park Hall Elementary School in Clarendon, Jamaica, where he began building the discipline and values that would guide him throughout his life.In 1959, he migrated to Kingston, Jamaica, where life took on a slightly different rhythm. While maintaining his values, he embraced new experiences, including attending horse racing events at Caymanas Park every Saturday with his brother, Glenn, along with occasional evenings enjoying the social scene. In 1968, with determination and hope for broader opportunity, Al migrated to the United States. The opportunity was made possible through the generosity and support of the Hilton family, a kindness he always appreciated. He settled in Hartford, CT, where he would live for nearly 60 years. There, he built a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and lasting friendships.Al dedicated many years to working in the printing industry at Connecticut Printers, earning the respect of colleagues through his steady work ethic and quiet dedication.Outside of work, Al was deeply involved with the Sportsman Club, where he formed lifelong friendships. He joined the Sportsman Club as a member in the early 1970s and remained an active and dedicated part of the organization for many years. He later served the club with pride as Assistant Business Manager, eventually becoming Business Manager, reflecting the trust and respect he earned from fellow members. He especially enjoyed spending time at the club playing dominoes, sharing stories, and enjoying the camaraderie of friends.Al was a true people person who was known for his kindness, warm spirit, and ability to connect with others. He loved watching football and was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys. More than anything, he devoted his adult life to raising and supporting his only child, Tiffany, who remained a central part of his life.In the final six months of his life, Al relocated to Texas after his daughter moved him to be closer to family. Surrounded by love and care, he was able to spend his final season near those who meant the most to him.Al was a devoted father to his only child, Tiffany Duckett; a proud father-in-law to Will Duckett, Jr.; and a cherished grandfather to Emavee Ray Duckett, all of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his stepsons, Chris and Mark Brown; his brothers, Glenn (Jamaica), Comrie and Welsworth (England); and his sister, Thelma (Spain); along with extended family and dear friends across Jamaica, the United States, and abroad.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, 11 a.m., St. Monica's Episcopal Church, 3575 Main Street, Hartford.
