Alexandra Ann Downs

Alexandra A. Downs, affectionately known to all as Nana, passed away on March 11, 2026, in Royse City, Texas. Born on January 19, 1943, in Bellshill, Scotland, she was the daughter of Nellie May and William Patterson Downs. She grew up alongside her sisters, Mary, who preceded her in death, and Catherine.

Nana lived a vibrant life filled with music and love. She toured Europe with the USO as a singer, sharing her voice and bringing joy to many. After moving to the United States, she continued to embrace her roles as an entertainer, mother, and grandmother with passion and warmth. Her family remained the center of her world. She is survived by her children Lesley, Darrell, Katy Jane, and Janell, as well as her son-in-law Jarod. Her grandchildren included L.W., Billy Joe, Alexandra, Wade, Dylan, Brady, Ryan May, Grayson, and Casey, and she also cherished her great-great-grandchildren Taylor, Jesse, Kenoa, Melody, and Bear.

A devoted Christian, Nana lived her faith through generosity and deep care for family and friends. She never met a stranger and was known by all as Nana. She loved to sing, shop, entertain, take road trips, visit the beach, and spend time at the casino. She found simple pleasures in Typhoo tea and chocolate, and she had a special affection for animals. Funny, thoughtful, and generous, she approached life with humor and insisted on celebrating it fully, often reminding others to “give me flowers while I’m here.”

Those who knew and loved Alexandra A. Downs will remember the songs she sang, the joy she spread, and the love she gave so freely. Her spirit and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of her family.
