Alexander Mark Martinez

Alexander Mark Martinez, 65, of Burgin, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born on December 5, 1960, in Manhattan, New York, he was the son of the late Alfred Jesus and Elizabeth Elaine Walters Martinez.

A graduate of Boces Culinary School, Alex was a longtime member of Burgin Christian Church and had served as a volunteer firefighter on Long Island. He took great joy in his role as “Poppy” and cherished his life as a devoted husband, father, and loyal friend to many.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Lynn Martinez; daughters Jennifer (Joseph Monroe) Martinez of Burgin and Courtney (Shannon Borens) Martinez of Danville; sons Michael Pelz of Nashville and Stuart (Rebecca) Martinez of Colorado Springs; sisters Elizabeth (Edmund) Cabrera of Brookesville, Florida, and Trish (Mike) Schultz of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brothers Alfred Martin and David (Terri) Martinez of Spring Hill, Florida, Eric Martinez of Summerville, South Carolina, and John (Tiss) Webb of London, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren, Skylar, Alexandria, Elonia, Benjamin, Raiden, Elowyn, Gwen, Noah, Addison, Alice, Remington, and Bristol; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Donna McGee Martinez.
