Alesandra Castellucci, a celebrated artist known for her paintings of nature, embroideries of flower compositions, and drawings and prints of her family, passed away on March 10, 2026.
She studied with renowned painter Mercedes Matter at the Philadelphia College of Art and later received special recognition for her work at Yale University. Alesandra was particularly praised for her scenes of verdant landscapes, which she studied directly from nature. She went on to teach advanced students at Rosemont College in Pennsylvania, where she introduced eager young women to new approaches to art and nature through a range of techniques and brilliant colors.
In addition to her accomplished oil paintings and pastels, Alesandra was honored for her distinctive approach to still life subjects, especially colorful plants and flowers. She was also a charming and revered teacher of young preschool students, delighting them by setting amusing lyrics to melodies from “My Fair Lady” and other beloved shows. Her innovative embroideries, which featured flowers and trees rendered with a creative use of needle and colorful threads, remain a testament to her artistic vision.
Alesandra will be remembered for her lively interactions with students and her deep dedication to her career as an artist. She was a devoted family member who cherished her nieces and nephews.
