Moreira, late of Newark, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the age of 56. He was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, and in Portugal, and loved spending time with his caring and devoted family.Alcides found great joy in spending time with his nephew Jayden, sharing laughter and playful moments together. He was a true animal lover and had a special bond with Nico, the family cat who adored him and would often wait at the door for him. Alcides was a passionate sports fan, especially of the Dallas Cowboys, and loved soccer, proudly cheering whenever Portugal won. He also enjoyed watching UFC and, in his younger days, riding motorcycles. Alcides was known for having a great appetite and especially loved his mother's homemade Portuguese cooking.Alcides is survived by his daughter, Melissa Moreira; loving parents, Maria Moreira and Alcides Moreira; his brother, John Moreira; and his sister, Michelle Moreira. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the many moments of laughter and love he shared with family and friends.Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Sunday, March 15, to be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.The cremation will be private.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
