Alberto Zepeda
September 21, 1935— March 6, 2026
Hayward, CA
Alberto Zepeda, age 90, affectionately known as “Tata” and “Globo,” passed away at home on March 6, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born in Mexico in 1935, Alberto worked in his parents’ small grocery store as a young man and, in his free time, pursued his passion as a torero. After earning a degree in accounting, he became a Coca-Cola distribution supervisor. On one of his routes, he met the woman who would become his beloved wife of 62 years, Tecla. Seeking greater opportunities, the couple moved to California in the 1960s. Alberto first worked in a floral greenhouse nursery in San Leandro, where his natural green thumb thrived, before joining a glass manufacturing company in Oakland. He retired at the age of 62, remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication, and deep pride in providing for his family.
Alberto loved to travel. He took his young family on many road trips to Mexico, Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, amusement parks, and countless other destinations. In retirement, he continued exploring, visiting Europe, the Caribbean, Alaska, and Hawaii.
He is survived by his wife Tecla, his children and their spouses, his grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and his beloved kitty Meow Meow. Alberto will be fondly remembered for his warm sense of humor, natural charm, and genuine love of conversation. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
