We are heartbroken to share that Alberta Smith Bratcher, age 74, of Caneyville, has passed away peacefully at her home on March 8, 2026. Born on July 18, 1951, in Caneyville, Alberta was the beloved daughter of the late Elsie Mae Burden Hayes.Alberta was a dedicated wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother who truly cherished her family. She found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren, Korey, Kris, Tyler, Jacob, and Lyric, as well as her four treasured great-granddaughters, Henley, Izzabella, Paizley, and Nevaeh. Her love for family was matched only by her unwavering faith; she spent her life devoted to serving her Lord and Savior. In her spare moments, you could often find Alberta sewing, a hobby that brought her much joy.Alberta leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Billy Bratcher, along with her two sons, Clinton Ray Bratcher and Adam Jackson Bratcher. She is also survived by her brothers, Pat Ford and Walter Smith; her sisters, Martha Ford and Sarah Smith; and a multitude of friends and family who will miss her dearly.She was preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Lisa Cooke, and her siblings, Mike Ford, Norman Gene Smith, and Gordon Lee Smith.Alberta's life will be celebrated during a funeral service at the Caneyville Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with Bro. Billy Bratcher officiating. Her burial will follow at the New Hope Cemetery. Visitors will be welcomed at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the service time to share memories and provide comfort to one another in this time of grief.Though our hearts are heavy, we carry Alberta's spirit with us, finding solace in the laughter and love she shared.
