Albert F. Emmons, 90, of Freehold, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Born in Long Branch, he remained a lifelong resident of Freehold. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960, stationed in England, where he developed a lifelong passion for gardening and fine china.

A 1962 graduate of Monmouth University, Al went on to earn a master’s degree from New York University. He began his career in education in 1963, serving as an English teacher, guidance counselor, and special services teacher at both Freehold Borough High School and Freehold Township High School for 36 years until his retirement in 1997. Known for his signature white lab coat, he guided and supported countless students through their high school years. After retiring, he continued to teach and counsel in the night and summer school programs for the Freehold Regional district.

Al was a longtime active communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold. He was a devoted son and caretaker to his parents, Albert and Vera Emmons, who predeceased him.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane (LTC, Ret. Charles J.) Anderson; six nieces and nephews, Elizabeth (Michael) Savage, Margaret (Kevin) Burd, Monica (William) Tice, Charles A. Anderson, Katherine (Rob) Paradis, and Mary Anderson; his great-nieces and nephews, Joseph (Faith) Savage, Jason (Hayley) Savage, Hannah Burd, Madeline Tice, Zachary Tice, Glenn, Ben, and Logan Paradis; and great-great-niece Delaney Savage. In addition to his family, Al leaves behind a loving circle of dedicated friends, neighbors, and aides.
