Albert Curtis Fischer, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

Preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Albert Fischer, his son Michael Fischer, his brother Jerry Fischer, and brothers-in-law Edward Kocourek and Frank Dick, Albert is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Maas-Fischer. He is also survived by his daughter, Laura Dwyer (Terry), stepdaughter Robin Maas (Garth), stepson Michael Peterson (Sherry), 16 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind siblings Julianne, Carol, Dick, Phil, Mary Ellen, and Joe, along with many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

A standout athlete at Southwest High School, Albert excelled in football, hockey, and track. His talent earned him a place at the University of Minnesota, where he played football in two Rose Bowls and was part of a National Championship team—accomplishments that remained a source of deep pride throughout his life. After graduating, he earned a degree from the Carlson School of Management and built a successful career as an automobile dealer for more than 25 years.

Albert’s love of sports endured long after his playing days, as a coach of youth teams, a devoted fan, and an avid golfer who formed many cherished friendships on the course. He was also a proud and dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous, a community that reflected his strength, perseverance, and commitment to helping others. His life was defined by his devotion to family, the warmth of his friendships, his passion for sports, and the quiet strength of his character. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
