February 7, 1932— March 10, 2026
Rochester, NY
Alan Habrecht Mueller was born on February 7, 1932 to Mildred (née Geis) and Clarence Mueller of Rochester, NY. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
As a young man, Alan worked at the famous Levis Music Store on Main Street in Rochester, before it closed in 1970. For decades he maintained his own business as a piano and player piano repairman, even assisting the legendary jazz pianist Eubie Blake during Blake’s 99th Birthday Concert, which took place in Rochester. Alan had a lifelong interest in music and music-making machines and was a prolific collector of antique phonographs, gramophones, nickelodeons, and all manner of sound-reproducing machines. He forged many friendships through this hobby and was a trusted authority on their repair and maintenance.
Alan also took great interest in local history and genealogy - he was very proud of his German roots from both branches of his family. He volunteered for many years at the Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse and the Greece Historical Society, where he also forged lifelong friendships. He lovingly nurtured several feline companions over the years. Alan will be remembered as a kind, congenial person and devoted friend who always had a good story to tell. He leaves his friends and family with deeply cherished memories of a true gentleman.
