Alan Cushing

Laconia, NH

Alan Cushing of Meredith Bay, New Hampshire, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Concord Hospital in Laconia.

Born and raised in Concord, Alan joined the New Hampshire National Guard after high school. Following basic and advanced training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, he served with the 114th Public Information Detachment as a photographer. In 1986, he became one of the original founders of Plan Tech Inc., a manufacturer of custom molded polyurethane products. What began in his garage soon grew into a successful business in Loudon, where Alan earned a national reputation for developing innovative products and helping companies improve their manufacturing processes. He sold the company in 2016 and retired to the Lakes Region, making his home on Meredith Bay with his longtime partner, Toni Adair.

An avid bass fisherman, Alan competed in tournaments for many years and served as past president of both the American Bass Association of New Hampshire and the Northeast Bass Association of New Hampshire. In the off-season, he traveled with friends to fish in the southern United States and Mexico. He had a lifelong love of music, playing drums in local bands and attending concerts regularly. Alan also enjoyed traveling, visiting many national parks, Eastern Europe, and taking cruises to Alaska, Hawaii, the Baltic Region, the Bahamas, and the Virgin Islands.

A devoted Corvette enthusiast, he meticulously restored a 1974 model that consistently won trophies at car shows. He owned several Corvettes and cherished memories of taking delivery of his 2001 model at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, traveling with the New England Caravan to the manufacturing plant, attending the annual Back to the Beach event in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and receiving his 2021 C8 mid-engine model.

Alan is survived by his loving partner of 18 years, Toni Adair, and her daughters, Shana Perry, Sabrina Adair, and Kayla Adair and her husband Matthew Arcoite, as well as grandchildren Devin Perry, Javian Flores, Amiyah Adair, and Latalya Adair. A celebration of his life will be held later this spring.
