Addis Jerome "Jerry" Hill

Addis Jerome "Jerry" Hill

May 7, 1945 March 6, 2026

Tallahassee, FL

Addis Jerome Hill of Tallahassee, known as Jerry to all who knew him, passed away on March 6, 2026, at the age of 80 after a brief illness.

Born on May 7, 1945, in Chattahoochee, Florida, Jerry grew up in a family that ran Chattahoochee Dry Cleaners and owned a 200-acre farm in Jackson County. There he developed his lifelong passion for fishing and hunting, spending countless hours outdoors with his father on the Apalachicola River and hunting quail with his cousin. A gifted athlete, he played varsity basketball as a freshman in high school and continued at Chipola Junior College, where he was named MVP and helped lead the team to the National Junior College Championship Games. He went on to earn a degree in Pharmacy from Samford University in 1968, where he also excelled in basketball and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity.

Jerry returned to Florida and began his career as a community pharmacist, later joining the State of Florida as a consultant pharmacist in the Medicaid program. He advanced to Bureau Chief for Pharmacy Services with the Florida Department of Health, overseeing vaccine distribution, licensing and inspection of manufacturers, and quality assurance across the state. In 1970 he married Marcia Farr, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and the outdoors. He was a devoted member of Faith Presbyterian Church and gave generously of his time as chair of the Leon County Pharmacy Association, on the Lafayette Oaks Homeowners Association board, as treasurer for the Lincoln High School Baseball Boosters, and as a coach for youth football and basketball.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marcia Farr Hill; daughter Laura Holloway (Joseph) and granddaughter Addison of Asheville, North Carolina; son Mark Hudson Hill (Jamie) and grandchildren Hudson and Mackenzie of Jacksonville, Florida; and sisters Jean Lawrence (James) and Carol Moorefield (Richard) of Columbus, Georgia, along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Martha Rebecca Davis of Perry, Georgia, and his parents, Lela Mae Hill and Addis J. Hill of Chattahoochee.

Jerry lived a life marked by generosity, hospitality, and a deep love of life. He was a wonderful husband, father, and granddaddy whose stories of hunting and fishing adventures will remain treasured memories for his children and grandchildren.
