A. Vincent Keyes
October 23, 1932— March 9, 2026
Signal Mountain, TN
A. Vincent Keyes, known affectionately as Abbie, of Signal Mountain, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, surrounded by his children. Born on October 23, 1932, and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, Abbie attended the University of North Carolina before joining the United States Air Force in 1954, where he served until his honorable discharge in 1958. He met Shirley Ann Stone in Charleston, South Carolina, and they married on September 14, 1956. Abbie returned to the University of North Carolina, earning an undergraduate degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in 1960.
Abbie built a distinguished career in finance, first working for Integon in Winston-Salem, then joining Provident Life and Accident (Unum) in Chattanooga in 1969. He received the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1970. After taking early retirement from Provident in 1987, he joined Brooks, Montague and Keyes before forming Southport Capital, an investment advisory firm, with his longtime friend Donald R. Tomlin in 1993. He continued transitional work until his full retirement in 2007.
In retirement, Abbie found joy in golf and bridge with friends, as well as his woodworking. He volunteered at Memorial Hospital and remained a devoted cradle-to-grave Catholic, serving as an active member of Saint Augustine’s Parish on Signal Mountain since 1969. Above all, he cherished his marriage to Shirley, which he proudly described as lasting 69 years, 5 months, and 11 days, along with the love of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Abbie is survived by his children, Karen Keyes Stuber, Kevin Keyes (Cheryl), and Kirsten Keyes Myers (Brock); seven grandchildren, Jenson Keyes, Candace Perry (Ben), Lindsay Stuber, Vince Stuber (Abby), Samuel Keyes (Jade), Kaitlyn Myers, and Carson Myers; and seven great-grandchildren, Aidan Keyes, Lincoln Perry, Clay Perry, Levi Perry, Kallie Keyes, Louie Keyes, and Cason Lombardo. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He often reflected that he had lived one great life, blessed by a loving wife and family, wonderful friends, and a supportive church.
