A. Carroll Prater

A. Carroll Prater, 80, of Paris, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 12, 1945, in Wise, Virginia, to the late Curtis and Myrtle (Robinson) Sorah, Carroll had made her home in Paris Township since 1976. She worked for several local restaurants, including Twin Star and East Park, and in her free time found joy in bowling, watching cowboy shows, and most of all, cherishing moments with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster “Buck” Prater, on July 6, 2017, her son Jackie Lee, and her sisters Judith Ann Sorah and Helen Mullins. Carroll is survived by her daughters, Wanda (Tommy) Gehret and Rhoda (Mark) Kale; her grandchildren, Nichole Prater, Cody (Laura) Kale, and Logan Kale; her great-grandson, Carter; her siblings, Edith Boles, Karla Worley, and Joe Sluss; and many nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Hawley Cemetery in Paris Township, Ohio.
